Sump separators and fuel product recovery tanks
Collect filter and tank drains, separate the water and recover the fuel — with less product loss and less risk of spills.
Don't throw away drained fuel
At an aviation fuel farm, filter and tank sumps, pipeline low points and quality-control samples are drained every day. A sump separator or product recovery tank collects that fuel, separates water and sediment, and lets you pump clean fuel back to storage.
The result: less product loss, less waste to manage, and less risk of spills on the apron and at the fuel farm.
Benefits
- Less product loss
- Water and sediment separation
- Less waste to manage
- Lower risk of spills
Aviation fuel recovery unit
Each unit is configured for your drain volume and site layout. Typical features:
- Collection tank with lid, for drains and samples
- Pump with explosion-proof motor and controls to return fuel to storage
- Sight glass to see the fuel/water interface
- Separate water drain
- Inlet and discharge valves in aviation-fuel-compatible materials
- Connections for filter and tank drains

Where they are used
Fuel farms
Drains from tank sumps and filter water separators, and pipeline low points.
Refueller loading stands
Quality-control samples and filter drains from refuellers and hydrant dispensers.
FBOs, heliports and general aviation
Smaller sites where every litre counts and space is limited.
Frequently asked questions
What is a fuel product recovery tank?
It is a vessel that receives fuel drained from filter and tank sumps, pipeline low points and quality-control samples. It lets you separate water and sediment and pump clean fuel back to storage instead of disposing of it.
Can recovered fuel be reused?
Yes, provided it passes the quality checks your operator's procedures require before it is returned to storage. The separator makes those checks easier by showing the fuel/water interface and draining water separately.
Can the separator be configured for my site?
Yes. Capacity, connections, materials and accessories are defined by your drain volume, fuel type and site layout. Tell us your application and we will propose a configuration.
Do you ship sump separators to the Caribbean and South America?
Yes. We ship the complete unit from Canada with its documentation, and assist with commissioning and staff training.
